How do we make our puzzles?
Our items are wooden puzzles that we personally craft in our workshop in San Basilio and our shop in San Barnaba. They are designed to give shape to city images, Venetian views, and imaginative subjects, bringing a piece of Venice into the homes of those who choose them.
Here you can discover every stage of the process we follow.
FROM THE WOOD PANEL
In our workshop, every creation comes to life starting from poplar plywood boards. This wood, sourced from a fast-growing plant, is an ecological and sustainable choice. Poplar also has a remarkable ability to store carbon dioxide (CO²), is lightweight yet durable, easy to work with, and offers a smooth and uniform surface. Its versatility allows us to offer you products with vibrant colors that are long-lasting and environmentally friendly.
THE DESIGN
The first phase of the process involves gluing the design onto the wooden board.
The designs used belong to a repertoire built over almost fifty years of activity, constantly enriched with new ideas.
Through this combination of tradition and innovation, we create unique pieces that tell a story and combine artisanal expertise with our desire to bring refined, colorful, and quality objects into your homes.
THE CUTTING
We personally cut all the wooden objects you see in the shop in our workshop in San Basilio, a few calli away. We use an industrial electric scroll saw: by following the glued design and thanks to the very fine blade of this tool, we are able to achieve a precise and smooth cut. The scroll saw has an oscillating vertical blade, while we guide the piece of wood to cut along the lines of the design. How do we manage it? Well, that's the secret of the artisan's hands.
COLORED PUZZLES
The cut object is then freed from the wooden board. But what holds the final shape together are the precisely designed joints, ensuring that each individual piece can be joined to the others in a solid and harmonious way.
The final step is the color, which we apply in two ways: by immersion in food-grade dyes, for a full and non-toxic shade, or by airbrush, to paint our pictures with delicate nuances.
If we've piqued your interest, we await you in the shop to discover the timeless charm of wood and artisanal tradition!
